History
The Butler County News was first published on Thanksgiving Day, 1911, in Georgiana, Ala., by Roger Pride Sr. who was the editor and publisher until his death in March 1957. Roger W. Pride Jr. assumed his father's position as editor and publisher until the publication's sale to Boone Newspapers in 1997.

The Butler County News is now printed in Clanton, Ala., along with Greenville Newspapers' other publications, The Greenville Advocate, The Luverne Journal, The Lowndes Signal and the Butler Express.
